There are a million macro trackers, and most of them are a pain. The free ones make you sit through TikTok Shop ads. The paid ones take a dozen taps to log a meal. I couldn’t find one I enjoyed using, which stinks for something you open three to five times a day.
So I built the one I wanted—Fit Shapes, a calorie and macro tracker for iPhone. I’ve been using it for months, and today I’m sharing it with you.
An ugly story
At the start of the year I weighed close to 220 pounds. I hadn’t been that heavy since I played high school football—and I’m nowhere near squatting 400 today. I was in bad shape. My blood pressure was consistently high, I had frequent headaches and I generally felt terrible.
This morning I weighed 195. That’s 25 pounds down since January. I feel better, and I’ve settled into a workout routine I like. It didn’t take anything fancy. I ate less than I burned and kept at it for months. I started with other trackers, but I hated using them so much that I built my own. Fit Shapes has carried me the rest of the way.
What it does
The app is simple. Whenever you eat something, take a photo of it or scan the barcode. Fit Shapes figures out what’s in the meal, estimates the calories and macros and logs it.
It also pulls what you burn from Apple Health, so you always know where your day stands. Each week it looks at your weight trend and suggests new targets.

Try it
Fit Shapes is on the App Store, with an Android beta. Learn more at fitshapes.com. If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think!
