I’ve never quite been satisfied with the logos I’ve designed for this site. Over the years I’ve spent an enormous amount of time working on various options—the results just haven’t been that great.
One of the challenges I’ve faced is that the letter S is particularly difficult to work with. It doesn’t help that my initials have a double S—it makes designing a lockup tricky. As the curviest letter in the alphabet, it’s more fitting for lettering type logos, rather than the minimal, geometric style that I was aiming for.
Eventually something clicked and I moved enough rectangles around to find something that worked. It seems silly. Especially since it is so simple. But the simplest things are the most difficult.
This logo is minimal and geometric. It works with a single color and at small sizes. It uses negative space to show the second S. For once I’m happy with it.
Hopefully, this logo has some staying power. I suppose time will tell.
