Seems pretty clear the two roles going forward are going to be product and sales/distribution. And it's probably helpful if people in those roles have at least some proficiency in the other.

You know, I was always a pretty poor engineer. On the other hand I always had a pretty strong product sense and eye for details. So I leaned into that.Agents are already much better at engineering than I am. @evilrabbit_ Somewhat related. Some of my favorite engineers and product managers I've worked with over the years started as support reps or sellers. There's a customer-first focus that's difficult to teach.

Out of everyone who applied for the Basecamp Head of Marketing job, only one person used an ad on LinkedIn to get an extra ounce of notice. This doesn’t get her the job, but it’s a clever, thoughtful technique to stand out against 1000+ other applicants.
